In terms of media consumption, the levels of this have changed massively over the last few years. What we now consider as normal media consumption, such as web 2.0, Facebook etc, BBC Iplayer, the Iphone - all were not available 10 years ago. A clear example is the increasing use of mobile phones for children under 16 - recently featured in the news.
Web 2.0 also made a massive impact on the terms of media consumption used in 2010 as opposed to 1998. BBC I player and TV catch up sites such as this enable children and adults now to watch any show on most channels they may have missed previously. In 1998, if you missed a TV programme you had simply missed it, and would have to wait until it was shown on TV again, if ever. My older brother had a recording tape which he could use but this meant you had to re tape whatever was on the tape previously. Evolutions in the internet and websites now mean this does not have to happen and shows are free to watch up to a week previously.
