Today we also were asked to think of a potential idea ourselves for a page of the newspaper. Although my main aim is not to create any pages as I am a member of the quality control team, I think our team creating one page could also be a good idea, and after asking Nick, if we can go to a team leader and give them our idea and if they like it, we could potentially make a page.
Therefore, I have decided myself to look at the idea of web 2. and the virtual revolution, how web 2.0 is changing the way people work and the media industry, people can be seen as a web sensation and can be noticed just because of their work posted on video sharing websites such as Youtube or Vimeo, or because of their blog work or articles written online.
It is a totally new way to look at work people have done and is slowly defeating the idea of some physical work or a portfolio taken to job interviews or work portfolios in terms of the media industry.
I thought I could work with someone mentioned today in class, his name is Simon Panrucker and he is a well known media sensation, he has also made a name for himself through videos posted online and work he has done, there are some examples below.
It is very interesting about how his work such as the videos above have made him recognised to such an extent that he has now set up his own blog and even has his own website for fans to see his progress, the link is here for future reference.
I will try and get in contact with Simon Panrucker and I think that if we or even I were to interview him for a page for the newspaper regarding the virtual revolution, this would really help media students to understand how the evolving level of media technology is influencing peoples lifestyles and work. I think this could be a good potential page for the newspaper and could really help students in terms of work too.
